About

# Selected, *not listed*

Local Three publishes short, careful selections: three local businesses per trade in each city we cover, with a plain explanation of why each one earned its place.

Our promise

“Selection is never for sale. Businesses don’t know they are being considered, and no one who sells advertising sees a selection before it is published.”

Local Three editors

Why three

## A deliberately small number

Long lists push the work back onto you. Three forces us to leave out good companies so that the ones left are the ones we would genuinely call first for our own homes.

Every selection follows the same [published method](https://thelocalthree.com/how-we-select/), is checked against public records and is re-made for each edition. Ratings and review counts come from public review platforms and are refreshed regularly.

Selection is never for sale. We earn from clearly labelled sponsored placements, enhanced profiles and quote requests you choose to send — [here is exactly how](https://thelocalthree.com/how-we-make-money/).
